We wanted to make a bigger spot than the first one with Maria. Filmed in Miami, Frederic Planchon spent the better part of two weeks searching for streets with wide enough sidewalks to have thousands of tennis balls follow Maria and her Powershot camera. I never saw a director work harder. Especially, with the distractions of South Beach. We flew in a special effects supervisor from The Framestore, in London, so post would be easier. Editor, Richard Learoyd from Whitehouse Post, L.A. was also on set cutting in a parking lot under a hood because the schedule was very tight. I think this spot carved a new space for Canon. And the model of camera featured in the spot became the leading seller in the category a week after it ran.
