My eight-year-old son, Cameron, recently asked for help
with his third-grade project on sedimentary rocks.

After we were done, I thought to myself, how similar we are in this business to these rocks.

Don't laugh. Consider this:

First, we start as a little sediment sitting all by ourself. Then, one day, by the sheer force of nature, we are stuck to another individual for a period of time. Suddenly, the wind or rain or most likely money moves us to another place, where we meet, connect and then form a bond with another person. We become shaped by all those we encounter. We take parts of them with us wherever we go. And the process continues and repeats itself as our career moves on. Never stopping until we stop.

We become defined today, by who we were with, and where we were.

I have been fortunate to have worked with some of the best art directors and creative directors, in great agencies, on some of the world's leading brands. I want to thank them for helping to shape me and my work. Here are a few names I want to acknowledge: Ralph Ammirati and Martin Puris who allowed me to cut my teeth. David Fowler, who lit my fuse with his unusual insight, driving passion and brilliant writing. "Biegel" he'd say, "everyone has the same twenty-six characters, it's up to you to cut them up better."

The "Skulls" Steve Stone, Harvey Marco,
K.J. Bowen, Tony Gomes, Kirk Souder and
Max Jerome. I went to Angotti, Thomas, Hedge
and then to Kirshenbaum & Bond with Max before
making my way over to Ogilvy, where I partnered with
Jill Fleming, Keith Evans, Ron Rosen, Jeroen Bours, Frank Guzzone and Porky Hefer. I was pushed by Rick Boyko. I wracked brains with Anil Bathwal and Bobby Pawar. And did shots with David Appicella and Neil French on the Carlton porch in Cannes. Neither will remember.

There were planners like Tony Wright on AIG and Anthony Bennett on Surf who made it easier to communicate disruptive ideas, with their profound human truths to work off of. At Dentsu, concepts were forged with Peter Cortez, Lyle Shemer, Jason Hirsch, Sean Smith and again with Ron Rosen.

At Scarlet Heifer, I have worked with myriad talented artists and thinkers from all disciplines. None more talented than my brainiac partner, Dan Howald. All are today part of me and a composite of my work.

Thanks.
